How Do I Check New Leads Against Database of Target Accounts?

Currently all leads captured by Marketo go straight to our Salesforce campaigns. How do I check those raw leads against a targeted database of, say, 3,000 named companies, then allow only those that match the criteria to flow into a Salesforce campaign?

Do I upload those 3,000 named accounts into a Marketo list? Do I pull them dynamically from another database, e.g., InsideView, Data.com?

          Hi Greg,

So let me see if I understand this and we'll narrow down the named companies to 3.

          NAMED LIST:
          Acme Company
          Beta Company
          Gamma Company

You want to run a campaign that evaluates when a new lead enters Marketo and synchs to SFDC on whether or not they are a part of the above list.  If the company name matches then they should be put into a specific SFDC campaign and flow.  Is that correct?

How are your leads entering the system?  I think you're going to have a tough go at trying to match it up.  You're on the right track with creating a smart list in Marketo to evaluate this, but what are the chances that the lead is going to put in "Gamma Company" exactly and not "Gamma", "Gamma Co", "Gamma Co." etc.  There are just so many variations to account for...espectially with 3000 potential named accounts.

If I'm a bit off on the context please elaborate.

Thanks, Michael. Yes, your assumptions are correct. Especially the input of company name variations, which I see all the time. I  know Marketo does (or did) use a Third Party, ReachForce, to help users select the proper company upon form submission.

Still, I'm back to wondering how I automatically confirm a target account before syncing to Salesforce. Maybe it remains a manual qualification process.

            Greg

Hi, do you still have the question open? I recently learnt of a company that can do that. Please let me know, I will share details.

              Thanks
