Multi-language website - Campaign pages

Hi all,

Here at Romax we have a website which will soon have multiple languages - Each language will have its own domain, for example UK.RomaxTech.com, US.RomaxTech.com and CN.RomaxTech.com.

My question is, if we're currently using the CNAME 'campaign' (To host landing pages on campaign.RomaxTech.com) would we need to create a bunch of additional CNAMES (eg. USCampaign, UKCampaign, CNCampaign) or is there a more ellegant solution to accomplish multi-lingual campaigns?

How does this relate to emailTrackingCNAME (currently 'Email').

Thanks for the ideas / support.

Re: Multi-language website - Campaign pages

You can have as many sub-domains and sub-sub-domains as you want.

To associate sub-domains to Marketo landing pages, you create a CNAME record for these that points to mktoweb.com (potentially using a wild card if you have multiple sub-domains that you want to point there).  The Customize Your Landing Page URLs With a CNAME help article has more information on this.

Re: Multi-language website - Campaign pages

Hi John,

I have had to set up multiple domains in the past and the approach I took was to create multiple Cnames. I'd love to know if there is a more elegant approach though!

There are some important peices of  information you should know about multiple domains though and I found these articles and discussions really helpful - in my case the most interesting points were:
 - People need to be cookies on each domain separately to be acknowledged and tracked
 - The webpages you create are added to ALL domains attached to your MKTO
 - You can set-up a cookie script to assist with managing multiple domains

There much much more - but It's a good start - Good luck!

Re: Multi-language website - Campaign pages

Thansk for the information, but I think I may have misguided you a little.

We only have one domain, but multiple existing sub-domains (US.RomaxTech.com, UK.RomaxTech.com, CN.RomaxTech.com).

The landing pages are hosted by Marketo, on a sub-domain campaign.RomaxTech.com.

How will I be able to do a chineese campaign - on a relevant subdomain - It'd need both/either CN. or campaign. as the subdomain? (But obviously can't have both?).

Re: Multi-language website - Campaign pages

You may be able to use the wildcard in the CNAME-record (e.g. campaign.*.RomaxTech.com) to point all your subdomains to [ACCOUNT STRING].mktoweb.com.

Re: Multi-language website - Campaign pages

Oh ok. So can you have multiple subdomains, for example;

campaign.romaxtech.com
campaign.CN.romaxtech.com
campaign.UK.romaxtech.com
campaign.US.romaxtech.com

Is that possible? If so, how does it work with creating landing pages in Marketo?
