Why is my Calendar token .ics in email working for PCs but not Macs? Help!

The link seems to be working for PCs but does nothing for Mac computers.

I don't know the full answer but I know that mac / IOS use iCal files rather than .ics.  I was under the impression that most applications could make the conversion but that could be the problem.

What format would work best for Outlook (Mac) and Corporate Gmail/Google Calendar?

When I click on the link in Gmail, Chrome downloads the .ics file. And then when I click on the .ics file, it fires up Mac Calendar which does me no good because we use Google Calendar and Outlook on Mac.

When I click on the link in Outlook, the file is downloaded. But when I click on it, iCal opens. Again, that doesn't help me.

Thoughts?
