When someone fills out a form on our website, we send a delivery email with a link to the resource they requested. The follow-up "confirmation" landing page has the phrase "Please add firstname.lastname@example.org to your email address book to ensure delivery." Most recipients' email clients can white list email domains as well, so you could change the phrase to indicate that as well.
We keep a blurb at the top of our subscr mgmt page that says something like 'to ensure that you receive requested emails, make sure to add domain.com to your safe senders list or network whitelist.'
