    Multiple email alerts - Marketo and Salesforce

      Marketo is linked to Salesforce and when a contact or lead clicks on a link in an email the sales team receive mutiple emails e.g. if I click on a link 5 times then the releavnt sales person will receive 5 email alerts.   The sales team hate this.

      Does anyone know how to fix it so that if a contact/lead clicks on a link multiple times then the relevant sales person receives only 1 email alert?  I'm at a complete loss and my sales team don't want me to send any emails until it's resolved.

          Hi Dominic,

          I'm guessing you have a smart campaign set up to alert your sales people when a lead clicks specific links?  In the schedule tab of that campaign you can change the qualification rules by clicking on them.  You can then choose to only allow each lead through the flow once, or once in a given time period.  Let me know if that solves the problem.

            Yes this has been done however it hasn't solved the problem.  We've sent test emails to the sales team and since we've introduced this new smart campaign where they flowed thru the system once, it literally means that they have done exactly that.  For example, when I sent the first test email, after they opened it and clicked on the links multiple times, each member of the team received one email, alerting them that a link had been clicked on.  Great, it worked, however since then whenever we have sent other test emails, when they open them and  click on the links (multiple times) they haven't received a single ealert since (informing them that a link has been clicked).  This must be because they've already 'flowed thru' the system.  Is this an issue for Marketo or for SF? I've been told by SF that this issues lies with Marketo.  A  a result of this issue, the sales team do not want me to any emails because they do not want to receive mutliple emails alerts that inform them when someone has clicked on a link.  This issue has been going on for 2-weeks and I've no idea how to solve it.  Three people in my team are fumbling and stumbling their way through the system trying to work out how to fix it. If anyone out there can help then please advise!

              Hi Dominic,

              Have you tried setting a time period as well?  Each lead can run through the flow once per day maybe?

                Sure, I'll try it and see how it works, but the issue seems to be that the sales team members have already flowed through the system and therefore once they've gone through this process then they're unable to receive ealerts that inform them that a link has been clicked on.  The suggested tips have been helpful, but they have yet to solve the issue. I'll see how I get on with this tomorrow.
