I assume you're talking about Marketo's built-in Company API. Not the CRM concept of Companies/Accounts.   A Lead has a single Marketo Company association via the externalCompanyId.   If you want a Lead to be linked to multiple company-like objects, you need to use a Marketo Custom Object that fills that purpose. ...
