What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Hi all,

Could you please explain what the "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce is and what it does and why? We cannot understand why it changes the lead status of a just disqualified contact back to low interest? I thought only a contact form fill changes the status so that they get scored again? And I have another case, where the form of WhichPLM directly changes data in Salesforce - and not for the better.

Re: What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Hi Ulli,

The "Lectra Marketo sync" is the name to identify that is an action from the synchronization between Marketo and SFDC. When a value is updated in Marketo, the "Lectra Marketo sync" will update this value also in SFDC.

For your first case, Marketo changed the status again to "low interest" because the field "Company name" was updated, so the lead go through the operational campaign "Exit Disqualified".

In Marketo if one of the following fields is updated on a disqualified lead, the lead status changed to "low interest": "Company name", "Inferred company", "Email address", "SFDC type" if the value is not "Administrative entity or "Education", "Job function" if the value is not "School university staff", teacher/professor", "School/University Director".

For your second case, I found that his job title was changed to "director app product" because he filled out a form for the Which PLM report. So the "Lectra Marketo sync" updated this new value in SFDC.

Hope it helps.

Re: What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Hi Chloé Sabourin, thanks for your quick reply and the update on the internal program for my first question. For the second question - I think that this form was filled out internally by HQ/Emilie. I think this is addressed. The main question about the form was: can it really be that a form fill changes valid data in Salesforce without being checked? This is not good, isn't it? And are there other forms out there that have the same "power"? Thanks for letting us know!

Re: What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Dear Ulli,

This topic was discussed last friday with Tabea and Jacqueline and we have agreed to improve the process of lead generation so this won't happen again. Indeed the job fonction changed from "apparel" to "app" because it was written so in the Which PLM report and we didn't pay attention to this until Tabea pointed out.

If a lead already exists in salesforce we will enter the exact same job fonction for the future. Hope this anwsers your question

Hi Emilie & Chloé Sabourin, Thanks for your response - I got this feedback about the process from Jacqueline and Tabea. This is why I wrote: "I think this is addressed". May I kindly come back to my main question about forms: can it really be that a form fill changes valid data in Salesforce without being checked? This is not good, isn't it? And are there other forms out there that have the same "power"? Thanks for letting us know!

Re: What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Well I am sorry I can only tell you about the process, I do not know anything about the forms. This is too technical for me. @Marina Massonet is on holiday I think she could annswer your question when she returns

Re: What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Hi Ulli,

All forms in Marketo have the "power" to overwrite data in Marketo and in SFDC (after the synchronization). Usually only the lead himself fills out the form with his own data so this is normal to update data if it's necessary.

As far as I know, there is no validation or checking before the synchronization in SFDC (except checking if the new value respect the list of values of the field).

Have a nice day!
Chloé

Re: What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Hi Chloé, But then a contact can overwrite his valid SF data by for example only using lowercase, making abreviations or typos or filling in wrong company/job data, etc. (some people don't pay attention or don't want to give all their data)? Is this what we want / can accept? Isn't that an issue, when we do not know about all these changes that could negatively impact our data quality?

Re: What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Hi Ulrike,

you can have the same problem - and more serious in my opinion - when a contact fill a form using the email of a colleague!

For example, a contact registered himself and his boss using its own email address. You will see in SFDC that some changes happens and seeing the contact history you can track the changes too....you will probably have mixed information on the two leads (it happened to me!)

Could be useful for you to check in ADMIN_Useful smart list your local list ADMIN_Data changes after filled out a forms ...enjoy!

Re: What is "Lectra Marketo Sync" in Salesforce?

Hi Stella, Oh, right! We experienced the form fill confusion because of colleagues filling out forms as well - I should have remembered this!  So thanks for the tip with the list ADMIN_Data changes after filled out forms.
