If you have duplicate cases concerning two (even more) Salesforces contacts please don't put one as "Inactive".
In fact, the process to follow is to merge them in order to keep both activity's historics. You just have to go on the affiliated account page and select the two contacts to be merged.
We will soon be able to update the Salesforce Userguide regarding this process,
In the meantime don't hesitate to ask me if you need help,
On Marketo you can only merge in these duplicate cases :
- Cold lead with cold lead (not in Salesforce yet)
- Cold lead with SFDC lead or contact
The process is different regarding the merge of :
- SFDC lead with SFDC contact
- two SFDC leads
- two SFDC contacts (which I wanted to explain on this post)
I have two leads that are duplicates and I have been following the Salesforce Userguide but there is one thing that is not clear: the second task is as follow:
"Put a comment in the Chatter section at the top of the Lead page to inform the account manager for the duplicate" => who is the account manager in that case?
Thanks for the reply,
How can I do if I have 2 different accounts belonging to the same company (a company wil several sites) and I need to have the same contact in both accounts? Should I create it twice?
Thanks in advance.
We don't have any solution for this case,
For now, we prefer keeping the two contacts (create one in your case).
HI Blanca, maybe an idea: what I like more than to create duplicates: I keep one contact - the one in the highest postion - (if possible) and just create a contact role on the other account(s) - so it can be used for opportunites etc.
Thank you so much for the advice Ulrike!
The point is that I need this contact to be included in the Smart Lists (no matter which one of the 2 sites is addressed), and I am afraid this will only happen if I create a new contact...
