Issue How to copy the data from one field to another field using tokens. Solution It’s very easy and it can be achieved through a Smart Campaign. Create a Smart Campaign and set up the Smart List to target the specific leads you want. In the Flow, use the Change Data Value step. You would need to choose the field you are copying to as the Attribute, and the new value as token {{lead.fieldYouAreCopyingFrom}}. When you run the campaign, the values will be copied across.  Be careful when doing this as the process cannot be reversed and any existing data in the field you are copying to will be destroyed. Note: Use appropriate tokens for the field, if the field is available under lead use lead tokens otherwise company tokens.

Issue You want to set a field such as "Country" to be required on a list import. Solution You cannot require a field to be included on a list import. To see any leads imported recently with blank values you can setup a Smart List with a subscription Filters -- Lead was created Source Type - Import [Field you are wanting to watch] is Empty You could setup a daily subscription to get the leads who qualify and then correct those leads as needed.

Issue When we delete the static lists from a program after a period of time, will the leads they contain no longer be member of the program? Solution The individuals should still be a member unless you change their membership status to remove them. Remember lists are simply collections of individuals so you can easily process or associate them, they don't automatically get "membership" unless you had corresponding flow steps that you used when putting them on the list.

Issue There are several special characters that are rejected by the Marketo system on the backend and which can cause errors or strange behavior when attempting to use them in asset or field names. These characters are: [ ' " < > { } ; ] This is a article attached image     Solution These characters should not be used because they are often used in code and scripting languages. Generally, Marketo will give an error if this is attempted. However, in the event that the name is accepted there is a good chance that you will see some strange behavior when attempting to use the asset or field. There is a large range of different behaviors that can result and they are all very unpredictable, so the best choice of action is to not use these characters with asset or field names at all.

Issue What happens if you log off (close) Marketo when importing a large amount of data through list import? Will it be processed or resume when you log back in? Solution It will keep running if you log off.  Next time when you have a large list to import, we would recommend sending a notification to yourself.  There is a little box you can put your email address in right when you start the import, it will email you when the import is done.

Issue Leads with the same first and last name are not showing up in the Possible Duplicates list. Solution For leads to be in Possible Duplicates, they need to have the same email address which is the unique identifier in Marketo.  This is the only matching that Marketo does. If the first and last name are the same and one is missing the email address or has a different email address, Marketo will not recognize this as a duplicate.

Issue Description A lead qualified for a Smart Campaign even though they do not meet the Smart Campaign filter requirements Issue Resolution At the time the campaign ran, the smart list was configured differently, which made the lead qualify at that time. The smart list of the campaign was then changed after it ran. Users with admin permission can check this using the Audit trail https://docs.marketo.com/display/public/DOCS/Change+Details+in+Audit+Trail#ChangeDetailsinAuditTrail-AssetAuditTrail

Issue Issue Description Person appears to have changed Segment, but there is no activity for that 'Change Segment' recorded in the Activity Log. Segmentation was not recently re-approved, so this would not account for the behavior we are seeing in other circumstances.   Segmentations Not Writing Change Activities However, the record was recently converted from a Lead to a Contact in the CRM.   Solution Issue Resolution Upon Lead conversion to Contact in Salesforce, an "initial" segmentation process for that Contact is computed. During these "initial" segmentation computations, in a manner similar to when a person is initially created in Marketo, no activity is recorded in the record's Activity Log.

Issue You have Workspaces and Partitions in your instance, and a static list that used to contain certain leads is now missing those leads.  The leads still exist in the database and there is no "Remove from List" activity in the Activity History for the affected leads.     Solution This can happen when the workspace that contains the static list no longer has visibility to the partition that the lead record is located in.  The lead may have been moved to a different partition, or the partitions that are accessible to the workspace may have been changed. To confirm whether this is the case, do the following Go to Admin > Workspaces & Partitions and locate the workspace that contains the static list Confirm which partitions are accessible to that workspace Go to the lead record of one of the leads that was in the static list before but is not now. See which partition the lead is in currently. If the lead's partition is not accessible to the static lists's workspace, the lead will not show up in the static list.

Issue Description You have a Smart List that should exclude a group of leads from a campaign, but they still show up in the Qualified Leads list   Issue Resolution Check the filter logic for your Smart Lampaign. "Or" logic allows leads that only qualify for some but not all of the filters to be included in the membership.  For example, you could have a Smart List with the following filters. SFDC Type = Contacts Unsubscribed = False (You are trying to exclude unsubscribed leads) Visited Webpage - http://www.company.com/products   If you use the following Advanced logic - "(1 or 2) and 3" - you will still have unsubscribed leads showing up in the list because they are Contacts, and the logic says they can be either Contacts or Unsubscribed = False.  They only need to satisfy one of the two filters to qualify, and an unsubscribed Contact would go through.   There is a blog post that goes into more detail on this.  Smart List Logic - How many people do you want in your club? Issue If your Smart Lists are processing slowly, you may be able to speed them up using Segmentations for exclusion lists.     Solution Many companies maintain email exclusion lists based on a number of criteria. In Marketo, these are often set up using Smart Lists that are then referenced in "Member of Smart List" filters. However, Smart Lists that reference other Smart Lists can be slow to resolve. Using a Segmentation for your exclusion lists instead of Smart Lists can help your campaigns and programs run more efficiently. Instructions for setting up Segmentations can be found here: Create a Segmentatio.  You can then use the Segmentation filters in your Smart List rather than the "Member of Smart List" filters: Use Segment Filters in a Smart List.

Issue Issue Description You receive notification that Campaign Failed in trying to update Segmentation for leads.     Solution To troubleshoot this issue review the Segmentations for the following:  Click on the Segmentation to pop up in a dialog box with the failed Segment(s) If a Segment failed to approve, review the Smart List filters for missing values or errors in the smart list logic of the Segment. When errors have been fixed, approve the Segment, review again if the notification occurs again.

Issue Description Importing programs from one Marketo instance to another doesn't bring program membership with the program Issue Resolution There is not a direct way to import the program membership. However this can still be identified by exporting the original program membership from the first instance to a CSV file. This file can then be imported to a static list in the new instance to identify these records. Then the records can be processed either manually or by batch campaign to update the campaign membership status.

Issue "Added to List" trigger is not firing when a lead is imported to a list when the List Import Mode "Skip new people and updates" is selected.     Solution Campaign triggers fire when the triggering activity is written to the lead's activity log. "Skip new people and updates" mode specifically skips activity logging. Since the "Added to List" activity is not written to the lead record when a lead is imported, the campaign will not be triggered.

Issue Description You created a smart list, but did not define any filters, and are wondering if this will cause no leads to show up in the results.   Issue Resolution If you create a smart list and you do not define any filters, this will cause all leads in your database or leads visible in the partition and workspace to appear in your results.   This can create problem if you have nested smart list. For example, if you have a smart list with the filter "Member of Smart List = Lead not in" with smart list A selected and smart list A has no filter, this logic will cause you exclude all leads in your database. Issue Is to possible to set up a distribution list (for internal employees) in Marketo? Solution There is no such feature called "Distribution list" in Marketo. An email can be sent to people only of they are part of your lead database. Alternate Workaround: You can create a excel sheet for your internal employees with their email addresses and import them into a Marketo static list.  You can refer this list in your smart campaign whenever you would need to send a communication email. Note: Mark the email you send as "Operational" to ensure that it reaches all the people in the imported list.

Issue Issue Description You have a record with a "Change Data Value" activity, but that field doesn't have a value on the current record. There's also an anonymous lead merge (which can be identified by looking for a Merge Leads activity and seeing if "Anonymous Source" is True) on the record.   Solution Issue Resolution Check the Change Data Value's "LeadId" field. If this matches the anonymous record's ID (identified from the Merge Leads activity in the "Merge Id" field), then the reason for the value not showing is because upon association of an anonymous lead to a known record, only the activities are merged -- not the values of any fields which may have been recorded as changed.
