Communication limits

Communication limits

Hello,

We have the option to limit the communication per day and per week but it would be great to have the same option by month

We may have a limitation per week, for example, 3 emails per week, to include some required emails that we may need to send that week, but we dont want to send 3 emails each week, we would like to have Maximum 3 emails per week but also maximum 5 emails per month (for example)

Thank you

OK so....how many emails do you WANT to send each week?   I would adjust your limits with the monthly goals in mind from there, reserving these for promotional, drip nurture and engagement stream emails.  Then create all of the required emails - meaning to be expected by the recipient due to some form of activity - as "operational".  When selecting operational at the time of adding a new local asset to a program in Marketing activities, you are overriding / ignoring the pre-set communication limits that match your weekly and monthly goals and ensuring you are still delivering all relevant content at the right time

Hi Bianca,

We would like to be able to set up 1 email per day and 3 emails per week, but also a limit of 8 emails per month (and be able to manage it in the future, in case we need to change)

Thank you

By this logic you are over mailing by anyone's standards if these are all meant to be sales based promotions.  Expected communications from a contact request, opting in to a download or webinar, renewals or reminders, and customer service based emails should all be set as operational so as to deliver the weekly "needs" while allowing complete control over communication limits for

your sales promotions.  Your communication limits can then be set to your sales promotions maximum which sounds like 8 per month or a maximum of 2 per promotions per week and no more than 1 per day.  (keeping in mind that at 1 per day, you never mail more than the weekly allotment, so mailing Monday and Wednesday means no more promotions are sent until the following Monday)

The goal is to be a maximum allowed, not a rule. We send 1, maximum 2 emails a week, but in specific cases we may need to send more (even though we can set it as operational, it does not apply to all situations) but we dont want more than 8 per month. If we only set up a limit of 3 per week, we can send 12 per month, we we would like to avoid it, therefore we would like to have the option to define limit per day, per week and per month

Again the limit per month on communication limits is set by the maximum per week that you allow.  There is no way to set parameters beyond that in Marketo's communication limits and that's a good thing as the communication limits are system wide and protect you from lawsuits for non compliance.   Here you want to set your weekly limit to be your  Xmonthly cap  / 4.

In order to apply logic to specific use cases you will want to build those emails into simple nurture or engagement programs that limit the cross over of emails and account for your different uses cases of the emails.
