We don't celebrate Thanksgiving as a holiday in the UK, however as a family, this is the day we put up our Christmas decorations ... lots of fun, love and laughter all round
My in-laws (and the extended in-law family) go to a resort in west central Minnesota. There is an indoor waterpark for a growing number of kids (22 kids under 10 I think) and we relax, eat, maybe have a drink or two, and hang out for a few days
We do multiple Thanksgivings each year due to having large families, but my favorite is our Black Friday Thanksgiving that we do at my parents house. Shopping in the morning, turkey in the afternoon!
Being part of an Eastern-Indian family + growing up in the US with Thanksgiving was always an interesting time for me. My family really wanted us to fit in, so we watch football, the Macy's parade, have a giant turkey, etc and have a huge party with 40-50 family members each year.
My thanksgiving involves 2 buffet lines. One buffet- all-American Thanksgiving dinner with a huge turkey! Second buffet- every curry your heart can desire aka full blown Indian restaurant buffet.
The best is when you bring a new boyfriend over to my Thanksgiving- think "My big fat greek wedding", but louder!
- Watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
- Cooking and eating way too much food
- Calling out of state family to wish them a Happy Holiday
I'm the de facto family photographer... so I spend the day eating no less than 36 homemade rolls and snapping all the shenanigans!
