What's are you using for a standard industry picklist?

We're a early-stage SaaS B2B company selling to IT and looking for something not as formal as SIC but more built out than 10-12 values.

Re: What's are you using for a standard industry picklist?

Here's one I found: (Should I move it to a Document) and people can add their comments/thoughts/suggestions:? We should create a living doc with people's pick lists. Thoughts?

What are the default picklist values in Salesforce?

  • A picklist is a list box of pre-defined values. The user can only select one of the pre-defined values. Only the Administrator has the ability to add or delete picklist values.
  • Further information on how to customize picklist values can be found by searching for "Updating Picklists".
  • Salesforce provides default values for each picklist field. If these default values meet your needs you do not need to add new entries in the values box. If you want to add or change any of these entries place the new values you wish to appear in the values box and delete any entries you no longer need.

Re: What's are you using for a standard industry picklist?

Our territories are vertical-based, so we have the broad "Territory Vertical" option, which only has a few options. And then we monitor NAICs values. The industry picklist was a constant battle ground, and I found that fewer umbrella options worked better, with the more specific information provided but not driving reports or anything.
