Using Zapier with Marketo & GTW

Can someone explain to me how you would connect Zapier to Marketo & GTW? We are trying to test the simulated live feature in GTW. Do you need to add Zapier to Marketo or GTW? Does Zapier work for new leads? Also, could you use Marketo's forms and landing pages to promote our simulated live webinars? I just need more information on how the setup/process goes in using Zapier with Marketo & GTW.

Thanks!

Perhaps describe more about your ideal requirements. I'm not familiar with the simul live so is that a hack with Zapier or a new GTW feature?

Re: Using Zapier with Marketo & GTW

We have the connection between Marketo & GTW/GTM.. I am talking about simulative live (or recorded) webinars that is a new feature from GTW. Therefore, I spoke to Marketo and they don't plan on updating to the newest version of GTW. I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with using Zapier to update a leads status after they attend or don't attend a recorded (or simulated live) webinar.

Re: Using Zapier with Marketo & GTW

Marketo has a in-built webservice for GTM/GTW Add GoToWebinar as a LaunchPoint Service - Marketo Docs - Product Documentation

Which would mean you don't need Zapier

Re: Using Zapier with Marketo & GTW

Can't help you specifically with your use case.

However, Zapier works by "plugging in" both your platforms to Zapier by providing your API credentials. There are certain triggers and actions Zapier have for each platform they support and it's not all the same. You should check this out to fully understand the limitations of what Zapier can do for you with the integration you want. Once connected you'd create a zap using the triggers and actions available and activate it so data starts flowing as per the flow you created.

Re: Using Zapier with Marketo & GTW

Natasa,

GTW Simulated Live uses the GTW V2 API which Marketo doesn't support (yet), so you do have to use Zapier as the middleware or write a custom integration. I have set up the webhook and Zap to create registrations from a Marketo form to a simulated Live webinar so far, and I'd be happy to share the documentation on how to do that piece. I am currently working on the second piece which is to pull in updated status info, and the personalized webinar URL.

Re: Using Zapier with Marketo & GTW

Hi Kelly,

Yes, that sounds perfect. We are still trying to figure out how it works so if you could share that information it would be appreciated. I’m not familiar with Zapier so I am trying to understand how the Zaps work and the complete functionality of it.

Thanks,

Natasa

Sorry, I didn't get notified of your reply. I will create a post with the documentation on how to set it up.

Re: Using Zapier with Marketo & GTW

I'm not too familiar with simulated live webinars (do they register on GTW or via Marketo page?). Zapier supports new reg to simulated webinars. You could easily take any data from that trigger and send it to marketo. Generally what I do in this instance is create a List in marketo (unique to each webinar); use Zapier to add/update person records and add them to the list. Then you can create a smart campaign in Marketo to handle all the rest of the logic:

"Added to list" then check previous statuses, and create as easy or complex of a flow that you need.

The Zapier side of things will be the easy part of this situation:
(Note - you need a paid version of Zapier to use either GTW or Marketo API)
