Unsubscribe Number in Email Performance Report

Hello! I created an email performance report for a campaign that we just launched. The total number of unsubscribed is showing as 55 in the report but when I created a smart list for the people who unsubscribed the email, the total number is coming up as 118. Does anyone know why these numbers are not matching up? Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you!

Hmm try checking these things:

  • Email performance report: setup > time period, set to all time
  • Download the smart list of unsubscribed and check for duplicates, however I'm not sure that the email performance report will pull those out
  • Also, which report did you create first? You should also check any data management programs that may be removing unsubscribes from Marketo (not best practice, but some instances have this setup)

There is a doc that explains the differences in Smart List (who) vs. Email Perf (what).

Also, the timing will matter. Don't look at these reports until about 72 hours afterwards when most of the data is collected. If you checked 30 min after a Send, it will def change.
