Is there a way that Marketo can provide customized solution - where the 'email address' and one other field like 'customer ID' combination makes a lead unique?
Reach out to Marketo Premier Support team to make this adjustment. This is not in users control instead Marketo Support does that on server side.
I did reach out to support but they came back saying it can't be done.

We have got the setup based on email address and business unit and support team helped us. Check the reason for not doing this?

The feedback was that its not a feature that Marketo offers at all, but I have gone back to him sayings its not standard but a custom solution we are looking for - basically having fields ie.email address, campaign ID and customer number combo made unique for a lead. Hopefully he'll come back to me soon.
So when you send a email from a campaign which has the following two leads for example:
1. John.firstname.lastname@example.org (email), 1234 (Business unit)
2. John.email@example.com (email), 7891 (Business unit)
How are you writing your flows?
Marketo have said that they have turned on the de-dupe rule for us, but if I run a program with smart campaign with the above leads, it sends to John.firstname.lastname@example.org , 1234, but doesn't send to John.email@example.com, 7891.
How do you manage the above situation?
What if John's email is used by 3 leads (3rd lead with different Business Unit number), how do you ensure that all 3 receive the email.
