SFDC Summer Release includes "Enable Contacts to Multiple Accounts" - How will this impact Marketo?

SFDC's Summer 2016 release includes the ability to relate a Contact to multiple accounts. This means that when enabled, a single Contact record in SFDC can be attached to more than one account. Today if you look at a person-record in Marketo, there is only one Company Name. What will happen in Marketo if a single person-record in SFDC is attached to more than one company?

Release Notes

@Cheryl Chavez - Can you shed any light on this?

Thank you!

Re: SFDC Summer Release includes "Enable Contacts to Multiple Accounts" - How will this impact Marketo?

UPDATE: Received an answer via email today from Cheryl Chavez on this:

"What it [Marketo] will do today is sync down the primary account associated.  We have a roadmap item for 2017 to address this in the proper fashion."

This means that  if a contact is associated with multiple accounts in SFDC, the Company Name field will contain that primary account name – and Marketo will have no visibility into the fact that the contact is also associated with other accounts. Cheryl says this will be the case until they build a new feature to expose the relationship.

Hi Mahesh Jeswani (MJ),

That's also a question for you as you are preparing the launch of the ABM product

Denise Greenberg - have you received any updates about when this will appear on the 2017 roadmap? We are looking to enable this feature before end of year.

Hi Valerie and Denise,

This is Derek Fung, part of the product management team at Marketo and responsible for CRM integrations.  We're still looking into the viability of this feature for the 2017 roadmap - I would be happy to catch up with you directly on this as well to understand your use cases if you have time.

Regards,

-Derek
