More Info about Email Invalid

Just a few questions about this field.

1) Once this field is set to true, does that mean that emails will not be sent to this lead?

2) Apart from being manually reset, can this field change?

3) Should email invalid true leads be deleted from the database?

Thanks in advance

Re: More Info about Email Invalid

Sam,

1. Email Invalid will be set to True once an email bounces. This means this person will not receive emails until that field is set to False

2. I actually have a smart campaign that looks for "data value changes: email address" and email invalid: true and the flow is to change email invalid to false. We use this when an email address maybe have bounced because of a typo

3. I would not delete email invalid people as they are still important to keep as contacts for Sales. For example, if a key decision maker is email invalid, maybe Sales can try to reach out to them another way. But if you delete the person altogether, there would be no record of it

Yes.

No.

Only if you consider them dormant in all other media as well as email.

A lead with an invalid email address can still be logging Visit Web Page and Clicked Link activities from existing sessions, and they may still be reachable over phone or SMS (opt-in permitting), social media, or direct mail. While obviously email is still central to Marketo, it's not the only means of communication.
