Marketo Sales Insight: Making "visitWebPage" With Params Meaningful to End Users

We've created some basic functionality on our site to submit a web page view using "visitWebPage" when a user reaches the middle of the page:

Munchkin.munchkinFunction('visitWebPage', {

'url': '/some-web-page/',

'params': 'scroll=50'

}

);

And bottom of a page:

Munchkin.munchkinFunction('visitWebPage', {

'url': '/some-web-page/',

'params': 'scroll=100'

}

);

But, what's seen in Marketo Sales Insight isn't very helpful to the user:

Is there any way to make what appears in Marketo Sales Insight a bit more helpful? (Indicate that the second or third page view of the same page in close succession are related to scrolling.)

Good question, and indeed applies outside of MSI as well (the query string isn't present in {{Trigger.Web Page}} which makes webhook- and alert-based info generic in the same way).

I advise mirroring the querystring in the hash (include it in both places because they each can be acted on in different ways).

Munchkin.munchkinFunction("visitWebPage", {

url: "/some-web-page/#scroll=50",

params: "scroll=50"

});

Re: Marketo Sales Insight: Making "visitWebPage" With Params Meaningful to End Users

Thank you, Sanford!

I was thinking of doing that, but I had hoped there would be some other solution.

One complaint I have about the design of the Marketo Sales Insight plugin is that it only includes URLs and also shortens those URLs to just the last few characters. 36 at most, based on what I can see in our plugin.

I would love to see the page's meta title in a column and, for "visitWebPage", to be able to submit that meta title through the "visitWebPage" Munchkin function.

That would make for a more useful "Web Activity" view and would give people the option of appending some meaningful text when the "visitWebPage" is really some action on the page.

Thanks again though! At least this confirms that my first instinct was right.
