I would love to get community input on a challenge we're facing, I'm curious to know if anyone else has used Marketo for what we're trying to do.
We have about 250 partners - formal and informal - many are interested in promoting our educational emails and events. We would like to track through Marketo/Salesforce the success of those partner campaigns.
We would like to deliver one email to all of our partners with links to our campaigns (or programs in Marketo speak). Partners would then send the links out to their communities. We would like to track leads that come in from those partner campaigns (people that either downloaded an asset or registered for a webinar) and redirect net new leads from the partner communication to the account owner (each of our sales people manage one or more partner).
It seems like we'll need to create separate programs for each partner that we want to track. Because this is fairly time consuming, I was wondering if anyone out there has tried to do what we're doing and has creative suggestions.
You only need one Marketo program If you set up indevidual Salesforce campaigns per partner and have the partner pass back the unique Salesforce campaign id assigned to them as a URL paramater in the link(s) to the Marketo landing page...This is a very basic edit to the email HTML you would be giving to Partners. You will just need to have a local asset smart campaign in your program that adds all the in-bound traffic to the correct Salesforce campaign. They key will be to not link your progam via the set-up to any one Salesforce campaign. The local asset smart campaign will be adding people to one of many Salesforce campaigns...
Yep. Mark's suggestion is way to go in this case....
Create a unique salesforce.com campaign for each partner. Note the salesforce.com campaign id for each. On your (common) web form, add the salesforce.com campaign id as hidden field. Then you should be able to use the URL builder to pass the salesforce.com campaign id as a parameter from the url. Just give each partner the url of that landing page and have them pass their unique salesforce.com campaign id.
