Labeling Leads in Database

We have four different lead types in our database. We are looking for the best way to label them as our database grows. Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of field we should add to our database?

We are curious if a text field where we manually update would be best, this would allow for us to add other labels and could be managed easily. However, the potential for mispelling and human error is higher. Does anyone have any suggestions for best practices?

Re: Labeling Leads in Database

Hi Mary,

How do you identify those leads today? To avoid creating new fields, I'd determine the criteria that separates each of those for lead types (is it their company size? form they fill out?, etc) and then set up segmentations instead. Once you have segmentations, any time a lead qualifies for that segmentation they will be automatically added, which should hopefully eliminate human error.

Re: Labeling Leads in Database

This is a great suggestion and I'd like to avoid adding any new fields if possible.

We don't actually have a way of identifying these leads currently, so the segmentation might be the perfect place to start. Thanks!
