How do we prevent MQL contacts that are partners from entering our CRM?

How do we prevent MQL contacts that are partners from entering our CRM?

Leads that are net new to Marketo get synced to the CRM once they reach an MQL threshold.

Partners are invited to participate in our events and the webinars which are part of our audience campaigns.

Our focus would be find a way within Marketo to exclude partner contacts from mapping with the CRM – this would mean that partner contacts (unless they are in a role with buying responsibilities) are excluded from the synch between Marketo and CRM.

you need to identify them by type with a field like

Record Type=Prospect, customer, Partner

Hi Josh, Thanks for your answer. Question- Do leads self-identify themselves as either "Prospect, Customer, Partner"? Or would a list need to be uploaded with a "Change Data Value" flow step to whatever record they are?

Thanks!

If they are net new, you could either have them self identify on the form which would add a field which I do not recommend or you can just have a simple smart list or segment containing your partner companies.  Then go to the smart campaign that controls the sync to SFDC and prior to that step add a remove from flow step if member of smart list = partner.
