How do I test social share buttons to make sure the links are loading correctly?

I want to attach social share buttons to each of our case studies, but once created how can I test them without actually posting to my social accounts. I want to make sure the links are populating correctly and that the text layout, etc. looks right. Also, under Share URL and Share Post Links to: Referring Page, does that mean the shared post link will direct people back to the original webpage or the landing page to fill out the download form or does it share the case study pdf directly?

I normally test with my social accounts and set the visibility of the posts to private (ie, my eyes only).  You also have the option of deleting the posts from networks that do not give you this level of control.
