How can you add a hyperlink using a Marketo token with a space?

I am looking to hyperlink the {{member.webinar url}} token to the text "Click here" in my email. However, when I try to save and approve the email, Marketo automatically replaces the space in the token with "%20" and does not allow me to approve the email.

Are there any suggestions on how to mitigate this?

Thanks so much,

Lindsay

Re: How can you add a hyperlink using a Marketo token with a space?

Hi Lindsay,
after Marketo refuses to approve the email, open it in edit mode once again and replace %20 with space manually. This time Marketo will approve it for sure.

Another solution is to place the token right into the template, and when you create emails from this template there'll be no problem with space. It works (for me at least).

Hi Lindsay, I'd keep only the URL in the token, not the whole link. Then you can type in "click here" in your email as per normal, and add your token in the "Link URL" box. Hope this helps.

Just to clarify, you are setting up your email template like Click here, and then Marketo is replacing it with Click here?

Re: How can you add a hyperlink using a Marketo token with a space?

Hi Murtza,

Elena's tips solved my issue for me (thanks Elena!), but to clarify:

I hyperlinked "Click here", and used the token {{member.webinar url:default=https://testlink.com}}
When saving the email, Marketo presented an alert saying that an invalid token was used, and replaced {{member.webinar url:default=https://testlink.com}} with {{member.webinar%20url:default=https://testlink.com}}.

When I went back into the email and deleted the "%20" and re-approved the email, it worked.

Thanks,

Lindsay
