Has anybody sent emails from only a first name?

Has anybody sent emails from only a first name?

I'd like to try sending emails out from "Dan" instead of "Dan Ahmadi".

Are there any legal implications for doing so? Is that CAN SPAM compliant?
Has anybody done this before? If so, what was the result?

I guess this is called a "friendly from"

Thanks!

You can definitely do that, but do you want to? That loses credibility instantly with most people and probably spam filters. I'd say "Dan? Dan who?" where's he from?

Of course, you could do just a one word company name too.

From a credibility/open rate perspective I tend to agree with Josh. I'd be sure to do some A/B testing before doing it across the board.

Yes -

I was planning to run an A/B test on a test group before I rolled it out. I was just wondering if it would break any laws.

Thanks Erik and Josh!
