Hey all, we've been reading and trying to figure out how to make modules.
For instance, a sidebar for an email template.
We have some devs over here that are very comfy with HTML & CSS, but not comfy enough with Marketo.
I'm pretty HTML & CSS savvy myself, so don't be afraid of replying with nitty-gritty if it explains how to do this.
We think that modules are defined by classes, id's and mktoname, so we can copy that line of code, change those variables and see another thing pop up in the "CONTENT" section, but no matter what we do, we can't get it to show up in the "MODULES" tab.
Any ideas what we're doing wrong?
Thanks so much, really,
Have you got all your module sections wrapped in a master container?
<!-- Module Container Table -->
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<td class="mktoContainer" id="mkto-container">
******All your module sections should go in here******
<!--End of Module Container -->
Jenna Molby made a fantastic blog post about creating Email 2.0 templates that should help your whole team as a reference.
This article was awesome. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone thinking about tweaking templates in general, and creating modules particularly.
Even for someone with marginal HTML skills, asides from the HTML editor validation stuff being quite broken in Marketo, It was a piece of cake to add two new modules.
1/ read the doc (Email Template Syntax - Marketo Docs - Product Docs ) carefully. It explains how modules need to be included in containers. Modules and containers classes can only be added to some specific HTML tags.
2/ Use some of Marketo built-in starter templates to see how they are developped.
