Provide the ability to create CSS-based buttons

In another post on the community, this self-service tool was called out: Bulletproof email buttons (offered by Campaign Monitor).  Having an integrated tool like this within Marketo would be so helpful and scalable, rather than having to create custom image-based buttons for our emails and landing pages.  As a cheap, self-serve email service provider - that charges a penny per email - I have to admit, Campaign Monitor offers some really cool and innovative tools to its subscribers.

Hi Dan,

Typically, you would set this up in your email template, just letting the button text to be editable. An alternative would be to bring to email templates capabilities similar to the guided LPs :

I agree - especially as we try to enforce brand-compliant assets within our emails and landing pages.  It gets tricky when the call-to-action text expands beyond the width of the button (like when we translate to German text).

So, if this is implemented, it is important that template designers keep a control on it so that end users are limited in their choices (such as for colors, fonts, or button width).

Plus, the <a> tag should always have a Target="_blank" attribute by default.

One thing to note here is that, at this point, Marketo will not track the link contained in that VML tag, so your link clicks from Outlook will not show up. I had to stop using those buttons for that reason.

Wow, thanks for pointing this out, Jason.

Isn't this just hoping that the CSS displays right in the email client?  You'd probably be better off using an image.
