Problem: When sending an operational email many times it shouldn't be followed up by a marketing email trying to sell something. The operational email is being sent for a reason and should be the only thing they get that day. Of course there are times where they should get another (i.e. content requests, etc.) and you can choose to have those types bypass communication limits in those instances.
Background: We've been with Marketo for 2 years and told operational emails count to the limit but would send if they were at limits. We had a support case open for a month where they went back and forth on the answer to how operational emails are handled before finally telling us that we were incorrectly informed for 2 years. Turns out operational emails don't count towards the communication limit. This has resulted in a number of people who have received more emails than we had thought or planned for.
