Allow Tokens to be Used in Batch Campaigns

Allow Tokens to be Used in Batch Campaigns

Saw this Idea already out there but noticed it was flagged with "Already Have It (Partially)" -

Well, the times I'm trying to use tokens, batch alert notifications in the other email field, they do not work.

I'd like to expand the use of tokens to cover this situation and possibly others that we are not.

You can definitely use tokens in the "other" email field of a "send alert" flow step - like this:

But you cannot use tokens anywhere within the smart list of a smart campaign.  There are also certain fields within flow steps where tokens cannot be used.  For example in the "change data value" where you're populating the "Acquisition Program", for example:

Normally, we would use the Program Name token (my.ProgramName) - but it doesn't work here for some reason.  It would be helpful if Marketo provided those scenarios where tokens do not work.

I am able to use a token in the other email field for a trigger campaign and have it work.

But if you setup the same exact thing and make it a batch campaign instead the flow will not recognize the token.

I discovered this as I went to check on the deliverability to our Sales Team and realized they didn't receive my email.  I went to check the results of the campaign to discovery that the "Send to List" in the Activity Details was listing my token instead of the email it references (when using a trigger the token is replaced with the email and the notifications are delivered).

Interesting find here.  Didn't realize this didn't work within batch campaigns.

As an FYI to anyone coming across this same issue:

The current workaround to this is to turn the criteria for the flow step you are after into a trigger based on a "Campaign is Requested" (make active).

Then create a smart campaign with the criteria you had originally intended.

Go to the Leads Tab > Select All > Leads Actions > Special > Request Campaign...

Here you should see reference to the campaign that has the flow from above.  Select that campaign and hit Run Now.

Your flow with the token should now work as expected.

I just noticed this here, at the bottom of the page: Send Alert - Marketo Docs - Product Docs

I believe they added that section in there as part of my case out to Marketo.

@Marketo

Where is the "Duplicate Idea" asides the one I mentioned in my original Idea?

I would like to know so that I can vote and follow it.

Thank you
