Pitfalls of Creating a NEW SFDC Marketo Sync User License + Disable Old License?

I am working with a new client who is currently (and unnecessarily)  syncing 500+ fields to their dedicated Marketo Sync User SFDC license. (They'd like to sync only about 100 fields.)  To save time and streamline a potentially arduous process, I'd like to suggest that they simply start from scratch, create a new Sync User License - and re-sync the entire Marketo-to-SFDC license (and disable the original license.) Does anyone have experience with this, or see any possible pitfalls?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Suzanne,

The reason why you haven't had any answer to you question so far is because you posted it to the wrong place. Post questions to the "products" section

Read this: Getting the most of the community when you have a Marketo question

The big risk is that the new user has no access to some to the contacts, leads or accounts that the previous one was having. This will break sync on records.

And any way, the fact that the new user has no access to 400 fields will not remove them from Marketo. You will have to hide the fields one by one.

I would rather create a new SFDC profile with access to 100 fields I need and gran that profile to the existing user, then hide the fields in Marketo.

Thanks so much Gregoire. I intentionally posted to the Champions group bc I felt this was a "senior" issue, one that only an experienced user may have encountered. I also reached out to Support. Let's see their take on it, too for a second opinion. Stay tuned.

Hi Suzanne,

In fact, the champion group has another purpose and posts to it are not visible, excepted by it's own members, only about 60 people. Not all knowledgable are in fact champions
