Many Statuses!

Hi All

I'm a little confused as I often encountered many statuses as follows, reading Deep Dive:
   -  1) program status
   -  2) progression status
   -  3) lead status
Can anyone explain the exact differences between them?
And are there any other type of status I should keep in mind?

Wondering if (1) & (2) are the same and (2) is the old expression as I think I can find it in old
articles.

  • Program Status and PRogression Status are the same. They changed the name to Program Status a few months ago. These statuses depend on the Channel Type selected. You can modify them to suit your business needs in Admin > Tags > Channels
  • Lead Status is a standard SFDC field that is used to manage/route leads.Usually you have Sales set this based on certain actions. Then Marketo listens for changes and may take an action like moving the Lead or sending it to nurturing. This is part of your lead lifecycle in most cases.

Hi Tad, 

Program and progression statuses are the same. When you setup your channels you will define the progression steps.  For example, if the channel was email blast the program (or progression) status could be sent, opened, clicked, etc. depending on what progression statuses were used when the channel was created.

Lead status refers to the SFDC field.  Sales uses this to track the progress of a lead throughout the lifecycle.
