How do I filter email types in an email performance report?

I have the default email performance report open but I want to filter it to only see certain types of emails. For example, I don't need to see the performance of webinar confirmation reports! Ideally, I'd have reports to compare apples to apples, e.g. a report to compare performance of product launch emails vs. mailing list emails etc.

What's the best way to do this?

Thanks!

From the report, you can filter with a Smart List or from the Setup tab. The Setup tab will allow you to select certain emails, or certain types of emails, or emails sent from a certain date.

A lot of this is determined by how you set up your folders in Marketo. It might be easiest to keep lead gen emails in different folders from operational ones so you can select only the folders with the corresponding emails you're interested in. Labeling and organzing makes reporting a lot easier.

Another option is to create a tag around "operational vs. lead generating". Then, when you create reports, you can select only the lead generating emails. However if any operational emails are included in the program (IE webinar confirmation), they will be included in the report.

Re: How do I filter email types in an email performance report?

I couldn't find a great way in the Setup tab, as Adam suggested. I could only manually select each email campaign using the Marketing Activities Emails filter, but I was hoping it would be dynamic.

For example, is there no way to filter by the names of the emails, e.g. contains "launch email"? So that everytime I have a new launch email it will show up in this report?

Kristen, interesting recommendation on keeping lead gen vs operational emails separate. That would seem like an odd way to structure my program folders as I like having all related assets for a campaign in the same folder. I'll keep it in mind.

This seems like such a simple need! Any other ideas?

Christine,

I am experiencing the same issue. We used to export reports month by month and it was fairly easy to manually choose the campaigns that were run that month but not we would like to expand our reporting quarterly and so on which would make this process much harder.

Did you find any solution within Marketo reporting for this?

Best,

Kirsten
