How do communication limits affect engagement programs?

I am trying to understand how the communication limits work in regards to engagement programs. 
If a lead has reached their communication limits for the day/week before our cast goes out, I understand they will be skipped. On the next cast will that lead receive email 1 or will they have moved to email 2? (assuming all content is new and these leads have never received these emails before)

Also, is there a report I can pull after the email has launched to show how many leads did not receive the email due to communication limits?

In my email performance report, I assume the 'Sent' number will not include the leads who had reached their communication limits...

Sorry for all the questions, its a difficult one to get my head around.

They will receive the next content they have not yet received.

So if I skip Email 1 in Cast 1, then I will receive Email 1 in Cast 2.

Sent will only include leads who were sent that email.

Great to hear... I was reading a thread that i cannot find right now where it said that leads who missed cast 1 were not receiving email 1 in cast 2, they were recieving email 2 in cast 2 but this must be resolved now.

do you know which thread that was? That was not my understanding of how Casts and the limits work.

It was a bug causing this to happen but it does not state whether it was ever resolved so i was wondering what the communities experience was with it.

From my recent observations, if an email in an engagement stream is skipped due to communication limits, in next cast, that email is sent. Thus Marketo sends the 'first' 'unsent' email from a given engagement stream in a cast.

This is something my team have been querying. Are you able to generate reports on leads affected by communication limits? As I understand, operational emails will affect communications limits for campaigns. I need to be able to demonstrate the effect this could be having. 

For example, if you have a 3 comms limit per 7 day period, 2 operational emails and 1 campaign email is recieved by one lead.

Does this mean your lead will now be hit by the communication limit imposed by your settings for any other emails?
