Add a list to Marketo, keep data out of SFDC

Has anyone experimented with a way to add a .csv to marketo, then keep all the data out of sfdc?

Re: Add a list to Marketo, keep data out of SFDC

Leads sync from SFDC to Marketo by default, but they don't have to automatically sync the other way, from Marketo to SFDC.

If your Marketo database always syncs leads to SFDC automatically, my first inclination would be to say that you've got an active trigger somewhere that says "Lead is Created --> Sync Lead to SFDC".

If you want to prevent the automatic 2-way sync, first and foremost you'll need to turn that trigger off, but then you'll need to remember to sync leads to SFDC on a campaign or ad hoc basis going forward.

Re: Add a list to Marketo, keep data out of SFDC

Thanks Nate this is helpful. Just to clarify we would have to turn the two way sync off in Marketo. Then if we want leads to sync we would have to write some triggers for it.

Re: Add a list to Marketo, keep data out of SFDC

Correct, you would want to deactivate the trigger that syncs leads from Marketo to SFDC upon lead creation in Marketo.  This would not affect the automatic SFDC to Marketo sync, if a lead were created in SFDC first - that's a whole other can of worms.

But again, with the global Marketo > SFDC sync deactivated, you'd want to add the Sync Lead to SFDC flow step into all of your inbound (form submission) triggers, otherwise things could get messy

That makes sense. Thanks for the help Nate!
