Branding Domain / feelin like a noob

Was clicking through admin after the recent release to see if anything was new and saw my Branding Domain under email was set to the generic default. I'm not one to change things without knowing the consequences, so I did a bit of searching on the community and am not sure if I have the right help article. https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000L3QK

What have i missed? haha Why am I so clueless on this? Do all I need is a different CNAME for email tracking? Do I really need to contact Marketo Support to set this up like the end of the article suggests?

Thats correct! Follow the guide and open a ticket with Marketo and your IT dept. It took a few days for ours to implemented.

Actually, it's not needed anymore to open a support ticket. You can enter it yourself in Admin > Email once the DNS setting is active.

I have notified the docs team that the above article needs to be updated.

For those of us not on the website side of things, what is required for enabling the DNS setting?

Thanks Jep -- I created a CNAME for http://mkto-h0101.com/ ... When I open either that link, or the CNAME, I get just a blank page. Can I assume that it is setup correctly as I don't get an error from either? i don't wnat to screw up my tracking. 🙂 I'd rather have correct, unbranded, tracking than errors.

@Marcus - You need to contact your IT department. Whoever's responsible for your website's DNS settings, they'll be able to add a CNAME in 30 seconds.

Hello Adam,

Just going to the generic tracking domain will show you a blank page, yes. As to whether the CNAME you created works or not, I'd have to look at the actual CNAME rather than the domain you pointed it to. What's the new CNAME? Feel free to email me if you'd rather not share here.
