Marketo Automatically Re-Assigning Lead Owner

We recently sent out webinar invitations to a list of leads generated by our sales team, where our Inside Sales Manager was the original lead owner. Once these leads registered for the webinar, the lead owner was changed to be our Marketing Director - not by a campaign that we had set up, but seemingly automatically by Marketo. Here is a screenshot of the activity....

I've never seen this "fixup Lead Owner" thing before. Any idea what it means and why it happened?

Did a user disappear from SFDC in the interim?

Did you check the activity log and verify the right lead assignments were being triggered (or not).

I'd ask Support.

Were all the Leads still synced prior to sending the invite? I have seen this in the past that if you send an email to someone who is not synced to SFDC, Marketo will assign the Lead to whoever the email was sent from, re-syncing it to SFDC. I thought that was weird, maybe a bug, but have seen it a couple of times now. Maybe that's what is happening in your scenario?

All of the leads invited should have already been in SFDC because that's where the list was generated from. Is it possible this could happen because we exported the list from SFDC and then imported it into MKTO? Everything seemed to have synced with existing lead records, etc...

Yes it could have. I'm not sure how that would work, but it seems plausible to me that when you imported, opposed to allowing the Leads to sync, that you created duplicate records that were not synced to SFDC. And if that is the case, then what I have experienced is a possibility in this case. Could you send a screen shot of the full activity log? I can take a look and see if I see anything. 

But I'm with you, I have never seen "fixup Lead Owner" as part of a description.

Thanks Jeff - The lead's activity log dates back to April 14 when it was created in SFDC. Here is a screenshot where the lead owner was changed...

Yeah, the Lead was not synced to SFDC prior to this activity. I'm guessing that Jen Hawkins is the Marketing Manager you mentioned earlier? That's a weird one. You may want to check your auto-assignment rules in SFDC as well to see if that played a part in all of this. 

Your "Lead Lifecycle Campaign01" program may be the reason as well. What are the flow steps there?
