Writing to a locked field in SFDC

We recently implemented SFDC and are writing data into the lead source field in SFDC. Right now the field is only editable by admin users and is a drop down type. We have our flows set up to change the data value of that field when a lead is synced with SFDC. The issue is that it doesn't seem to be writing the data over.

Does anyone have any experience writing data to a locked field in SFDC successfully?

You don't by any chance have field updates blocked on that field in Marketo, do you?

Where would I be able to check to see if the field is blocked from updating?

Field management in the admin area within Marketo.

It's not blocked from any updates. I can find the "Source" field and it's showing it's linked to the lead source fiels on the lead and contact in SFDC. I'm wondering if there is a workflow in SFDC that's causing the problems.

Re: Writing to a locked field in SFDC

Is your Marketo sync user an admin in salesforce?  If not, you'll want to make sure the security profile of the marketo sync user has the rights to edit that fields in Salesforce.   The other thing you can try is to turn on logging in salesforce and then run your update.  You might be able to get something from the logs.

Another simple test you can do is log into Salesforce as your marketo sync user and try editing the field.
