Blog feed process

Has anyone figured out how to set up a blog subscription process in Marketo? I see this here but it looks like it's not built into the tool yet: http://community.marketo.com/MarketoDiscussionDetail?id=90650000000PdP0AAK

Thanks in advance

Re: Blog feed process

Hi Tom,

Unfortunately, no, not automatically. You'd have to publish your blog post, then populate the content into an email template and schedule an email blast. Having the email trigger automatically is not something Marketo is setup to do out-of-the-box.

Re: Blog feed process

Hi Tom,

Based on that article, it sounds like you're trying to give leads the option to sign up for blog newsletter email updates (if not, please clarify). All you have to do is create a "Blog Subscriber" checkbox field and place it on your forms. You can add it as a checkbox to ALL forms with a label like "Yes, I'd like to receive your Blog newsletter", or if you have a "Blog subscription" form, add the checkbox as a hidden field set to true, and on submit, that lead will have that checkbox checked.

When you send blog newsletter emails, use the checkbox as a filter on the broadcast (Blog Subscriber = true).

Hopefully that answers your question, but if not, please elaborate and I'll be glad to help!

Re: Blog feed process

Dan,

Do you know if there's a way to deliver to those people each blog post as it's published?

Thanks for answering!

Re: Blog feed process

There is no trigger for Triggering on the creation of Marketo assets. Have you thought about using snippets for blog posts. So you can populate your mails and pages at the same time.

Re: Blog feed process

@Dan - thanks a lot for your responses!

@Diederik - Can you elaborate a bit on the snippets idea? It sound intriguing, but I'm not quite following the workflow for that.

Thanks,

Re: Blog feed process

A snippet is a piece of styled content you can drag-and-drop on any landing page and email in Marketo. They are created in Design Studio. I for instance create a snippet for every content program (which contains landing pages, thank you pages, teaser emails, deliver emails, sales emails, and a lot of triggers. All of this for every piece of content we have). I use these snippets on thank you pages to refer to related content. On http://connect.quintiq.com/Content-Brochure-4-Aluminum-explore-benefits-supply-chain-agility-typ.html you can clearly see 4 snippets.

Creating a snippet for each blog post (e.g. the first paragraph, with a read more link) allows you to populate emails, pages and more. It's only useful to use snippets if you intend to use them more than twice.

Re: Blog feed process

It seems Marketo should have some concept of an RSS trigger for when new posts appear in an RSS feed and then some ability to include that post info into an email using Tokens.
