Engagement program cadence

Hi Community

I'm trying to set up my first engagement program. The cadence has a frequency and a time. The time says EST - does this mean American EST?

I thought my default was Australian EST which is the time on which all my normal emails go. But I waited till the 11.45 am Sydney time and none of my emails have gone. So, I assume this is only set to EST of the US by default?

Regards,
Prashant

Re: Engagement program cadence

Hi Prashant

I'm pretty sure we asked this question on Cheryl's webinar and the response she gave at the time is that the cadence time zone is set to your org default (it's confusing and somewhat unfortunate that EST can mean different things depending on if you are American or Australian!)

I've just checked mine, and it is set to Australian Eastern Standard Time, like my org default.

Maybe there was some other reason your emails didn't fire?

Cheers

Veronica

Re: Engagement program cadence

Thanks Veronica. May be the EST in my cadence setting is Australian EST then.

I can't quite out what's wrong with my engagement program. I can see that the leads in a particular salesforce campaign got added to the Marketo program - but email #1 doesn't fire up :(. I have set the cadence in the program's stream, am I supposed to do anything else to fire the emails? The content is activated of course.

Re: Engagement program cadence

Prashant it might help if you provide a screenshot of your stream(s).  This is probably an issue others are having or will have in the future.

Re: Engagement program cadence

Hi Steve

I have attached the screenshot here. The Smart campaign called "EPAC list nurture" has a flow to add the leads that are part of a salesforce campaign or added to it, to be allocated to the engagement stream.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious here :(.

Re: Engagement program cadence

Hi - do you have a smart campaign set up within the program with a Filter for "Member of Engagement Program" and chosen the appropriate engagement program?

It's a weird additional step that sometimes trips people up. In every engagement engine program you must have a batch smart campaign that contains this filter, but is NOT scheduled (the cadence takes care of scheduling).

Apologies if I'm just going over areas you've checked already, just trying to cover all the bases!

Re: Engagement program cadence

Hi Veronica

Yes, I do have a smart campaign where I add all members of a particular SFDC campaign into the engagement program. I can see that 12 leads have been added to the engagement program.

And magically, things worked just now when i had schedule dit for 11.45 am Sydney time :).

My key learnings from yesterday and today:
  • Always separate out Smart campaigns of batch and trigger based into 2 separate ones. That's what was wrong in the end. I had a smart campaign to add leads if they were part of a SFDC campaign or if they were added to the campaign - the filter settings I had was an OR condition (meaning if any of the filters are true).
  • The cadence timing is set to locale settings - so my original assumption was wrong!
  • Community is an awesome way to trouble shoot and learn from others 🙂

Re: Engagement program cadence

Ha! My next question was going to be have you mixed and matched batch and triggers. Had a feeling the problem had to be in the smart campaign. Well done for figuring it out!
