SalesForce Web-to-Case from Marketo Form

We already have a form on our site which creates or updates leads in our SalesForce database ("web-to-lead"). What we want to do now is to use the SalesForce Web-to-Case function whereby it automatically creates a support case for our customers seeking technical support. Ideally, once they fill the form out, they will be provided with the case number that was created (optional). The form will also need form validation as the standard web-to-case code that SF provides does not include this.

Is this possible to do this through Marketo and, if so, how? If we need to hire a consultant for this, we are open to it. Thanks

If I understand your question correctly, you want to use Marketo as the front end for your customer to submit cases to SFDC backend.

I am pretty sure this is possible if you have someone on your team who can write the code.  You can also contact services@marketo.com for help.

Without knowing all the details of your intended user experience, it is hard for me say exactly what tools you will need so it is probably the best to consult our Professional Services Team.  Below are some resources that I think will be helpful

(1) Marketo Form on a non-Marketo landing page ( http://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000KyqgCAC)
(2) Custom Form Validation (http://community.marketo.com/MarketoResource?id=kA650000000Gtt6CAC)
(3) Marketo Development Resource (http://developers.marketo.com/)
(4) SFDC API

I would like to hear more on why you think Marketo would handle this better than SFDC? Remember Marketo is first and foremost a Marketing tool designed by marketers for Marketing purposes. I think What you are about to implement really belongs in the CRM world. I'm fairly sure that after you add the SFDC web to case from to your web page that JavaScript can be added to add validation such as making fields required. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17942285/salesforce-web-to-case-required-fields

Re: SalesForce Web-to-Case from Marketo Form

I like the idea of a Marketo form here big time...Or maybe a CMS-based form that is posting to Marketo via the API. Any chance to cookie or associate a lead record to a existing Marketo cookie and get that info to the Account and or Contact Owner is a big win for the team deploying Marketo.

Re: SalesForce Web-to-Case from Marketo Form

Thanks all for the replies.

The SF Web-to-Case form through Marketo is appealing to us because of the volume of support requests we get. We see it as another way to track and identify our visitors. I am just a neophyte at this but it seem that if there is something in Marketo for the web-to-lead function, it couldn't be much of a stretch to make something available for web-to-case. But I have been mistaken before 🙂

As far as form validation, we are pretty comfortable setting up some JS code for this. However, I am told that a lot of people turn off JS and, if so, that is a bit of a concern. So, we might end up doing this through our CMS.

Re: SalesForce Web-to-Case from Marketo Form

Hi Rick,

I'll second Calvin's suggestion to email services@marketo.com.  They will help identify the factors in play and help you implement the best posible solution. It is possible to still cookie a record that fills out a SFDC form, but it does require some webhooks work. Again, I'd let an expert guide you on that path.

Suprisingly, this worked the first time I tried it.  Very easy to figure out how to use.
