Tracking SEO info at point of conversion

Hi All,
We are looking to capture the Source and Search Term that was used when a lead converts, ie completes a form and becomes known.
We are already tracking the Original Source and passing this through on conversion, but we'd like to track the source of the actual session that converted the lead.
Often we'll have an original source that might be PPC, but won't necessarily result in the conversion.
Then the lead will return via organic search and convert at a later stage. Now the original lead source will be PPC, but the source that resulted in the conversion will be SEO or organic search.
How can I grab that info and add it to custom fields on the lead?

Anyway help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Simon

You can capture this info into a cookie and read it into  hidden fields on your form.  The Capturing Search Engine and PPC info on Landing Pages and Get URL Parameters via JavaScript on a Marketo Landing Page help articles explains how to do this.

Simon, do you anticipate a high number of leads searching and arriving at your site multiple times?  Sounds like an edge case for most companies.

Thanks for your replies.
Elliott, there aren't any URL parameters for those leads clicking through from SEO or organic search.
We'd still like to capture the referrer url, search engine and search term.

I'll try the method in the 1st article you mentioned and see if we can get that working. It seems like we'd need to add a specific list of search engines or sites that we want to report on.

Anyway, I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks
Simon
