Syncing Saleforce to Marketo

We just did our first sync of Salesforce into Marekto and it created a duplicate of every lead into Marketo. Is there a way to merge duplicates as one action, rather than doing them one by one? (Tried list/flow/merge, but that appears to merge all into one)

In addition, on the one lead that I merged with a sync to Saleforce, created a duplicate record in Salesforce and had to be merged. Is there a way to avoide that?

Re: Syncing Saleforce to Marketo

You may have several options including having Marketo do a merge for you as described in the help article Discussion of EasyMerge Tool and Process.  I'm curious as to the initial situation that resulted in the duplicates.  Was your Marketo database empty when you ran your first synch of Salesforce into Marketo?  Did all of the duplicates exist in Salesforce when you did the synch?

Thank you for your response. Our Marketo database had a list from MS Dynamics, as well as a couple other event lists. We just switched to Salesforce and synced.

Did you move your leads from Dynamics into Salesforce prior to synching it with Marketo?

Re: Syncing Saleforce to Marketo

Yes, but we never did a Dynamics sync to Marketo. We just uploaded CVS file that was pulled from Dynamics.

Re: Syncing Saleforce to Marketo

Ah. If the records in Salesforce are accurate, you may want to consider starting over by deleting all of the leads in Marketo (be sure to set the Remove from SFDC option to "false").  You'll need to make a small change to all of the SFDC Lead/Contact records (e.g. a Change SystemModStamp checkbox) to force all of the SFDC records back into Marketo.  I would discuss it with Marketo tech support first.
