Sending out an email if people have not RSVPd to an event

I want to send out a 'have you RSVPd' email to people who have not filled out the RSVP form on a landing page. Do I use the smart list 'fills out a form' and add a date of activity? Though I do not know how to say if they have not filled out the form by March 3 then send the reminder email.

If you are just checking to see if they have not filled out a specific form you can use the filter "Not Filled Out Form" in a smart list and use that list to target your email. Note that 'Fills Out Form' is a trigger that is listening for that specific event to happen. Hope this helps.

I think that solves my problem. If I use not filled out form and put in a date contraint the flow can be to send the reminder email, is that right?

I don't know if you need the date constraint if you are checking if they never filled out the form. Maybe I'm missing something.

I need it because if invitees haven't filled out the form by the RSVP date then I will send them a reminder email. Thank you very much for all your help Mark, I think you have solved my problem.

Re: Sending out an email if people have not RSVPd to an event

Hi, there are many work arounds for this, it depends on how you've sent up your program.

If when you sent out the first email, you changed their program status to "invited" or "sent", you can send a reminder email to all people who are still in that program status. This will work if when they do fill out the form, you update their status again to "registered" or "responded" or something similiar that states they filled out the form.

Otherwise, if you sync your form submits to a CRM, you can use that as a filter as well - if person is not yet synced to the campaign in your CRM, send them the email again.

But I agree with Mark, the easiest and most straightforward way would be to add a trigger that says "Has not filled out form" (I tend to add a 2nd filter on the program name in Marketo just to ensure the trigger is working properly).

Hope you sort it out!

Thanks for you help Chloe. I have made sure all the statuses are updated for each stage. Though I want to know what you mean with the '2nd filter on the program name in Marketo just to ensure the trigger is working properly' because I would like to add it as well because I am nervous about the form trigger.

Re: Sending out an email if people have not RSVPd to an event

Hi Glo-Ann ( sorry for the delay, I wish I got a notification that you had responded here). What I mean by the 2nd filter is: I build out the smart list to say 1/ Has not filled out form AND 2/ is not part of campaign in CRM.
We do it this way because we use global forms embedded on our website, so it's not actually a unique form, it's only various places on our website. By adding the 2nd part (is not part of CRM campaign), it's double checking to see if they are already a part of that program before sending them the email reminder.
Hope this helps!
