How to Export lead list with Chinse Characters?

Hello

I cant seem to find a way to get the chinese characters to export to excel correctly.   Does anyone know how to do this?  I read some other discussions and there are links listed that say they resolve the issue but the links do not work.    Please help, i need to export these lead to our APAC region manager and cant seem to get the characters to come up in excel.

Thanks

Re: How to Export lead list with Chinse Characters?

Are you trying to export them out from Marketo and preseve characters?
If you export as a CSV you won't be able to preserve the characters. If you select Tab Delimited, this will preserve the characters.

Re: How to Export lead list with Chinse Characters?

Thanks Edward for that information. it worked well for me. Here is the process I used to make sure I can preserve special characters that can be found in German, Swedish or French for example.
  • Export from Marketo as tab delimited
    • This will create a text file (.txt) and not a CSV
  • Open Excel
  • Then file (Menu) , then open file
  • Select the text file you exported from Marketo
  • Then in “text import wizard”
    • Change the File origin format to Unicode (UTF-8)
  • Now I can save the file to .xlsx
