Sales Insights appearing when they shouldn't - why?

Hi all,

I'm noticing that emails Marketo is sending are showing up in the activity history of Sales Insights in SFDC. For these emails, the Sales Insight option is not checked in the Email Settings within Marketo; My sync options in Marketo aren't set to track these items either (see screen shot). We prohibited the system from tracking these activities back in May and it worked but now I am seeing the information flow through again.

Has anyone run into this? Am I missing another place where Sales Insight tracking can be enabled?

Thank you,

Alexis

Re: Sales Insights appearing when they shouldn't - why?

Hi Alexis,

What is the reason behind now allowing Marketo's email activity to appear in MSI? I mean that is basically one of the reasons to have MSI.

Also the screen shot that you posted is not related to MSI. This is a custom SFDC activity that is created and is not tied to MSI. Basically this option is for users that do not use MSI: Customize Activities Sync - Marketo Docs - Product Documentation

I do not think there is a way to limit what emails are synced over to the MSI plug in.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Floyd

Re: Sales Insights appearing when they shouldn't - why?

Hi Floyd,

It's just one particular distribution that we don't want synced - it's a daily newsletter and it clogs up the activity history for our sales team. For campaigns and marketing, we have those emails track over.

I just realized what my confusion was on - I modified the sync to keep information from going to the SFDC activity tab, so you are correct - it is still supposed to be going to the Marketo Insights section of SFDC...silly me Thank you!

Hi Alexis,

That is great! Happy to help!

Yeah generally you want to avoid syncing custom activities from Marketo to SFDC especially when you have purchased MSI

Re: Sales Insights appearing when they shouldn't - why?

I experience a similar issue. Half of the leads I have in Marketo are not intended to sync to SFDC, and so MSI scoring (relative scoring / relative urgency) is not applied to them. Suddenly I see that in activity logs some of these non-synced leads start to recieve relative scoring/urgency. It's not like it impedes operations, but I'm trying to figure out what could be wrong.

Relative scoring applies to all scored records in the database, not just those synced with a CRM.  You should make sure records not synced to SFDC keep a NULL value in the score fields you have assigned to Stars and Flames if you don't want them included.

Thanks, I probably didn't pay much attention - it was always like this and that's easy to verify.

I am also having the same issue (the "Publish to Marketo Sales Insight" box is not checked in the Email Settings within Marketo but the emails are still showing up in Sales Insights in SFDC).  Please see screenshot below.

I have also included the email Summary below - it also shows "Sales Insight: Not Published".

Thanks.

Re: Sales Insights appearing when they shouldn't - why?

Hi Sanjeev,

That checkbox refers to actually pushing the actual email as a template into MSI so that the sales team members can send the email through MSI to their own customers.

Are you saying that this email is available in the send option? or that the email is appearing as statistics in the MSI tabs.

Thanks
