One Click Unsubscribe

Hi all,

Is there a way to have one click unsubscribe?

As of the moment when a lead clicked our unsubscribed link on email, they will be redirected at a landing page and need to submit a form and redirect to confirmation page.

What I want them to do is after they click unsubscribed link on email they will be redirecting on confirmation page. Is that possible? What do you think is the best practice on this

thanks

Re: One Click Unsubscribe

Hi Ron,

You can do this with a simple smart campaign using a "clicks link in email" trigger.

But this is quite dangerous: anyone using a recent version of anti-phishing software and link scanner will automatically unsubscribe without even knowing it... I advise my customers not to set up one mlcil unsub.

We dont have smart campaign that will change the unsubscribe from true to false but it seems that if they filled out they will automatically unsubscribe without any smart campaign.

Filling out a form isn't one-click (which is a good thing).

Greg is talking about using a SC if you don't have a form (which is a bad thing).

Re: One Click Unsubscribe

Correct, that's normal form functionality.

I think one click should be totally safe as long as your trigger is "Visits Web Page" and filter on your unsubscribe page.

Re: One Click Unsubscribe

But if they visit the web page and close the browser before Munchkin has a chance to run, you aren't going to process their unsubscribe.. which is bad.

Re: One Click Unsubscribe

That's another good point.

Or if they have Tracking Protection on.

There's a net disadvantage to "one-click" anything. What would you rather have, another button for people to confirm -- or to keep sending people email after they performed a supposedly "one-click" opt-out?

Re: One Click Unsubscribe

It's ILLEGAL to not have a one-click unsubscribe (at least in Canada). It's explicitly stated in the CASL law on the .gc.ca website in plain-english text along with screenshots of examples of other things to do (or not do) such as pre-populating checkboxes for opt-in. You absolutely, 100% positively MUST have a one-click unsubscribe in each and every marketing email ("consumer electronic message"). Again, it's specifically illegal to require a second click to "confirm" or whatever you want to call it. While the intent may be sound, you're breaking the law here.
