Data Retention Policy change-Implication to Email Send history

Hi Community, Marketo's new data retention policy will take effect on Aug 15th. If "Send Email" activity will not be available after 25 months, does that mean we won't be able to use filter "Was Sent Email" in Smart List? If that's the case, does that mean we'll potentially face some legal compliance issue that if end users asking for a list of emails that they were being sent from business, how are we going to be able to provide the this answer?

Looking forward to hearing from how other companies handling this. Thank you!

Emma

Monthly export via Bulk Export API ⇨ MSSQL online database ⇨ MSSQL offline backups as aged out...

Needless to say, this involves development.

(Also, in fairness, trusting Marketo's previously longer retention policy was never adequate from a legal standpoint. For example, if you stopped using Marketo, or if Marketo lost your data, that didn't let you off the hook for recordkeeping.)

Thank Sanford for your input! May I ask if it's the same legal purpose in response to a subpoena request?

Not sure what you mean? Do you mean do we fulfill requests from this datastore? Yes.
