How to get opens and clicks from emails in an "email send" channel

I've been asked to come up with open and click data on several people who were sent emails from one Email Send program. There are a total of 4 emails within that program that they could have been sent, and I am tasked with finding out which emails a list of 7 specific recipients have opened and clicked. When I try to set up a smart list to find who opened each of those 4 emails within my program, I cannot see/select any of those emails in the smart list setup tab. I can see one other email supposedly in the program, but when I search for it, it doesn't come up in the instance at all. Can anyone point me to some guidance on this topic? I've searched to no avail...

Thanks!

Did you send the emails with an A/B split test? If so, the name will show up differently in the smart list (Eg. name.Subject Line Test).

With as few of people as you are working with, I'm wondering if the easiest thing would be to open these 7 contacts individually and check out their activity history (especially if it's in the recent past)

That was my thought also, look at activity. Let me try that again and see what I can find. I wasn't seeing any of the emails listed in the record of the first guy I checked, but I'll look harder!

Can you show us your smart list? There are some quirks depending on what you are really trying to do.

  • Email Address IS (7 emails)
  • AND
  • Clicked Link in Email IS (4 email assets)
  • OR
  • Opened Email IS (4 email assets)

but remember that the URLs won't populate in the Clicked Link filter if no one clicked on them. So you can insert any value in the Link constraint, but that isn't a guarantee of anything.

As Paul suggests, you could just find the 7 people you care about and go through their info.

Re: How to get opens and clicks from emails in an "email send" channel

Hi Josh, I haven't even gotten to the point where I have a smart list I can show you, because for whatever reason, I cannot see any of my 4 email assets when I go to set up the smart list as I would normally be able to do. I can see one single email named "whole emails test," but I cannot figure out where that actually is. It doesn't come up in a search of the instance. Is it possible it's over in SFDC or something? I don't have access to that, so can't see if that's the case. I did do a spot check through the leads I'm supposed to be checking on to see which email they opened, but none of them opened any of the 4 assets. Just that mysterious "whole emails test." I didn't set this program up to begin with so I'm not sure what's going on with it. I'm just being asked for some data. I think the person who did set it up has left the company. I know it's asking a lot for somebody here to try to diagnose this from afar

Casier - can you provide a screenshot of your email program that shows all the local assets?  And maybe a screenshot of the Control Panel?  I'm assuming this was part of an A/B test since we're dealing with multiple emails.

You need RCA to create that kind of report. I've had to create similar reports for marketers wanting to know who engaged with what messages. An RCA email report will allow you to filter for your specific emails and display performance metrics for each person for each email. The ratio metrics don't make much sense at this level of granularity, but you can easily see delivered, opened, and clicked.

Thanks all for your help. I never totally figured this out myself, but our lead found a way to get the data. If I can get him to slow down for a minute and show me, I'll post a reply here
