Handling Lead Score when a Lead is merged in SFDC

We have scoring set up for Company Size and Annual Rev. In the case where a Lead is a duplicate and the reacords are merged in SFDC, these scores are being counted twice on the master Lead resulting in an inflated Lead Score: http://screencast.com/t/wnxmcvO3

Anyone have the same issue or any best practices to avoid this?

The scores are summed when merged in Marketo and it can happen in SFDC if you are doing this automatically....although usually SFDC lets you choose a Score.

It is difficult to avoid this.

I recommend exporting the score field and email field and then adjusting the scores in Excel and reimporting the sheet.
