Need Your Help! How to use trigger in smart campaign

We want to send out a welcome email automatically every time when customer registered our website.

Below are flow:

customer registered - be added to listing in marketo automatically - trigger a welcome email in marketo

So we started a smart campaign, added one trigger "Added to list", but we noticed the smart list cannot be added, only statics list.

We cannot use Batch mode since we need this campaign run on one person at a time, not sending out the email to all of people matched the filter at a once.

Thank you!

Hi Renee,

Are you using a marketo form?

If so, you can use the fills out form trigger, and then send the email.

Added to list will work as well, you do not need a smart list.

Hi Darrell,

Thank you so much!

But we do not use the marketo form. The data (email send name list) will be transferred directly by API from our website (which customer registered with).

We did try "Added to list", but the name list is static. It cannot be updated automatically.

So is there any other ways to do this smart campaign without using marketo form?

Thanks again!

Renee

Hey Renee,

Ok. Hopefully I'm not missing something.

Even a static list changes when you add a lead to it.

So let's say, you have the API adding a lead to List ABC.

Use a trigger, Added to List - List ABC, flow is send email.

Like Darrell says, the list membership is updated automatically. Are you talking about the list name?

Also, manually adding to a Smart List wouldn't make sense. SLs are by their nature dynamic. People are "added" and "removed" by either changing the qualification rules in the SL, changing fields or other characteristics on the lead, or letting those characteristics change naturally over time.
