Updated campaign member status not syncing from marketo flow

Hello!

I have an email program that has 2 smart campaign tracks beneath it (tracking opens and tracking clicks)

Under the opens campaign i have a flow step to update the SFDC campaign member status to "opened"

And in the "clicks" smart campaign I have the flow step to update the SFDC campaign member status to "MQL" when a user clicks the link.

I am working with a marketo that has lots of legacy data but i'm not sure why the campaign flow update is not working. Am i missing some steps?

Ok so if there are no results, then there are no members qualifying for this smart campaign.

So your smart list was setup to listen for the wrong conditions, possibly the wrong email, or it wasn't activated in time.

Hi Juliane,

You probably have the Salesforce campaign sync'd to the marketo program, at the program level.

This will cause the flow step "change campaign member status" for SFDC to fail.

If you disconnect the salesforce campaign from the marketo program at the program level, that step should work.

oh ok!  Where do I make this edit? I'm looking at the email program setup screen I'm not sure where I can view this.

Highlight the Email Program. Generally the view you will see is the four-tile Control Panel view. Change this view to the Summary view, and see if you have a Salesforce campaign already synced. If you do have a sync already, what you need to do is use program statuses in the program to change the status, which will automatically update the status in the Salesforce Campaign.

Hi Veronica! Thanks for your reply. The email program is not tied to a campaign. It says "not set"

Darrell/Veronica - any other place I can fix this? Or any other reason the flow step may not be working?

Hi - are you 100% sure that the Marketo sync user has write permissions for Campaigns in Salesforce?

Look on the results tab then, you will see why the step is failing. Look for the add to sfdc campaign or change status in sfdc campaign. Then it will say why it failed.

one of my coworkers recently did this on accident, the screen shot is below.

But if that's not the case, it could be that your statuses don't match up.

Hi Juliane Santos,

Does the Salesforce campaign have the exact same status' as the Marketo campaign?  If you go to the Salesforce campaign you are syncing to and click on the advanced setup button at the top it will show you the status' of the campaign.  If they are not the same as Marketo you will need to add it.

In future as you create a Marketo program I would always use the sync campaign method described above which will create the campaign in Salesforce with all the correct status'.

Hi Gerard,

The statuses are the same.  I hope i'm looking in the right place though.  I was looking at the tags and the one used for this email campaign has the same statuses as my campaign in SFDC.

Hi Darrell, Apologies for my delay. I'm not getting notified when I get responses here

I'm not finding the results tab. If i go to the smart campaign for opens/ clicks, i click results and i see nothing listed there.  Am i looking in the right place? I'm starting to think I need to start from scratch - but this is really bothering me!
